React developer job description

Three copy-ready templates — mid-level, senior and lead — written for 2026 React roles. Paste one into your careers page, or send it to us as a brief and meet vetted React engineers in 48 hours instead.

Mid-level React engineer

Delivers features independently within established patterns.

About the role
We are looking for a Mid-Level React Engineer to build and improve customer-facing web applications. You will work in a product squad with design, backend, and QA partners, turning product requirements into reliable React features with clear state management, accessible UI, and maintainable tests.

What you'll do
- Build React 19 features using TypeScript and modern tooling such as Vite, React Router, or Next.js.
- Implement forms, data fetching, loading states, error states, and responsive layouts.
- Write unit and integration tests with tools such as React Testing Library, Vitest, Playwright, or MSW.
- Participate in code reviews and improve existing components without unnecessary rewrites.
- Debug production issues with support from senior engineers.

What you'll bring
- Professional experience building React applications with TypeScript.
- Good understanding of component composition, hooks, controlled forms, and API integration.
- Ability to explain trade-offs and ask for clarification when requirements are ambiguous.
- Care for accessibility, browser behavior, and user-focused testing.
- Clear written communication in a remote team.

Nice to have
- Experience with TanStack Query, React Hook Form, Zod, Storybook, or design systems.
- Exposure to Next.js App Router, React Server Components, or performance profiling.

Senior React engineer

Owns significant areas, sets patterns and mentors.

About the role
We are looking for a Senior React Engineer to own complex front-end work from discovery through production. You will shape architecture for React applications, guide implementation across a product area, and help the team make pragmatic decisions about rendering, data fetching, state, performance, and test strategy.

What you'll do
- Design and deliver major React 19 and TypeScript features across multiple routes or workflows.
- Choose appropriate patterns for server state, client state, routing, caching, forms, and error handling.
- Improve performance using profiling, bundle analysis, code splitting, virtualization, and rendering-boundary decisions.
- Review code for maintainability, accessibility, security assumptions, and operational risk.
- Partner with product and backend teams to clarify requirements and reduce delivery risk.
- Mentor mid-level engineers through pairing, design reviews, and production debugging.

What you'll bring
- Strong experience building and operating production React applications.
- Sound judgment with tools such as Next.js, React Router, TanStack Query, Zustand, Redux Toolkit, or similar.
- Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly and document decisions.
- Practical testing experience with component, integration, and end-to-end coverage.
- Familiarity with observability, release workflows, and incident follow-up.

Nice to have
- Experience with design systems, React Server Components, monorepos, accessibility audits, or gradual migrations from older React stacks.

Lead React engineer

Sets technical direction and leads a team.

About the role
We are looking for a Lead React Engineer to set front-end direction for a product area and raise the quality of delivery across the team. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will still write code, but your broader impact will come from technical strategy, mentoring, standards, and cross-team alignment.

What you'll do
- Define React architecture for complex product surfaces, including rendering strategy, routing, data loading, state boundaries, and shared component patterns.
- Lead technical discovery for ambiguous initiatives and turn it into incremental delivery plans.
- Establish front-end standards for TypeScript, accessibility, testing, performance, observability, and code review.
- Guide migrations involving React 19, Next.js App Router, Vite, design systems, or shared packages.
- Partner with engineering managers, product leads, designers, and backend teams on sequencing and risk.
- Coach senior and mid-level engineers through RFCs, pairing, incident reviews, and feedback.

What you'll bring
- Deep React and TypeScript experience across large production applications.
- Proven ability to make architecture decisions that balance product speed, reliability, and maintainability.
- Strong communication in remote, async teams.
- Experience leading without relying only on authority.
- Good judgment around build systems, package ownership, security boundaries, and operational concerns.

Nice to have
- Experience with multi-app design systems, micro-frontends, monorepos, internationalization, or regulated product environments.
