TypeScript developer job description
Three copy-ready templates — mid-level, senior and lead — written for 2026 TypeScript roles. Paste one into your careers page, or send it to us as a brief and meet vetted TypeScript engineers in 48 hours instead.
Mid-level TypeScript engineer
Delivers features independently within established patterns.
About the role We are hiring a Mid-level TypeScript Engineer to build production features across our web and service codebases. You will work with TypeScript 5.x, Node.js 22/24, React 19 or similar front-end frameworks, and modern test tooling such as Vitest or Playwright. This role is for someone who can own well-scoped work, ask good questions, and leave code safer than they found it. What you'll do - Build typed APIs, UI components, and service modules from clear product requirements. - Add tests for behavior, error paths, and integration points. - Improve existing code by removing unsafe types, tightening validation, and simplifying flows. - Participate in code reviews and team planning. - Debug production issues with support from senior engineers. What you'll bring - Solid TypeScript experience with strict mode concepts, async code, and runtime data handling. - Practical experience with React, Node.js, or both. - Comfort using Git, CI, package managers such as pnpm or npm, and test frameworks. - Clear communication and a habit of asking for context before making changes. Nice to have - Experience with OpenAPI, GraphQL, tRPC, Zod, Valibot, Prisma, Drizzle, or Playwright. - Familiarity with monorepos, design systems, or cloud deployment workflows.
Senior TypeScript engineer
Owns significant areas, sets patterns and mentors.
About the role We are hiring a Senior TypeScript Engineer to lead complex implementation work across product and platform areas. You will shape API contracts, improve reliability, and guide engineers through pragmatic TypeScript patterns. The stack includes TypeScript 5.x, Node.js 22/24, React 19, Next.js 15 where appropriate, CI pipelines, and typed service integrations. What you'll do - Own design and delivery of multi-module features from proposal through release. - Define safe boundaries for external data, shared packages, and service contracts. - Review code for correctness, maintainability, observability, and migration risk. - Improve build, test, and type-check performance in existing codebases. - Mentor mid-level engineers through pairing, design review, and incident follow-up. - Collaborate with product and operations to make trade-offs visible. What you'll bring - Strong production TypeScript experience in strict codebases. - Deep understanding of Node.js, browser runtimes, API design, and asynchronous failure modes. - Experience designing tests beyond the happy path, including contract or integration tests. - A track record of reducing complexity without blocking delivery. - Clear written communication for design notes and review feedback. Nice to have - Experience with monorepos, project references, generated clients, OpenTelemetry, message queues, or gradual ESM migrations. - Familiarity with regulated, high-availability, or multi-tenant systems.
Lead TypeScript engineer
Sets technical direction and leads a team.
About the role We are hiring a Lead TypeScript Engineer to set technical direction for a remote engineering team while still contributing code. You will guide architecture, raise engineering standards, and coordinate delivery across front-end, back-end, and platform work. The environment uses TypeScript 5.x, Node.js 22/24, React-based applications, typed API contracts, automated testing, and CI/CD. What you'll do - Lead technical planning for cross-team initiatives and break them into safe delivery steps. - Establish conventions for TypeScript configuration, package boundaries, testing, and API evolution. - Review designs and critical pull requests, especially around contracts, migrations, and reliability. - Coach engineers through architecture decisions, debugging, and code quality practices. - Partner with engineering management and product to sequence work and manage technical risk. - Drive post-incident improvements and long-term modernization plans. What you'll bring - Extensive TypeScript experience across services, web applications, and shared libraries. - Proven ability to lead engineers without relying only on authority. - Strong judgment about when to standardize, when to allow local choice, and how to migrate safely. - Experience with observability, performance, security basics, and production operations. - Excellent written communication for design docs, RFCs, and decision records. Nice to have - Experience leading monorepo strategy, platform teams, design systems, API governance, or large CommonJS-to-ESM migrations. - Background working with distributed remote teams.
